GARMCO Staff Enhance Skills Through Tamkeen’s Career Progression Programme
As part of its commitment to developing its human capital, Bahrain-based Gulf Aluminium Rolling Mill Company (GARMCO), one of the largest downstream aluminium facilities in the Middle East has recently signed a training agreement with Tamkeen to train all its Bahraini employees as part of the company’s new strategy to enhance employee efficiency.
The agreement comes under Tamkeen’s Career Progression Programme, an initiative which helps employers address performance gaps of their Bahraini employees by providing quality training opportunities to develop work-related competencies.
GARMCO will utilise the training to increase team building, supervisory and managerial skills and competencies to address skills gaps of its 270 Bahraini employees and boost their performance.
Tamkeen’s Vice President of Human Capital Development, Ms. Amal Al-Kooheji stated, “The Career Progression Programme is among the flagship initiatives launched by Tamkeen to develop Bahrainis’ skills in line with market needs and making them employees of choice.”
“The dual approach of the programme, which serves the needs of both company and employee, and its flexible training options stems from Tamkeen’s strategic focus on achieving results, being customer-oriented, and enhancing quality,” Al-Kooheji added.
Commenting on this initiative, Mr. Graham Bruce, Chief Executive Officer of GARMCO, said: “We firmly believe that the key to the success of our business is our people; in line with our business strategy, we are committed to fully develop local talent within GARMCO for they are the Kingdom’s future industry leaders. This programme will enable us to achieve our manpower and succession planning objectives and to support the continued growth and development of GARMCO.”
In addition to accredited certifications, employees who successfully complete the training also receive salary increases which are subsidised by Tamkeen for up to 18 months.
