February 19, 2017 Construction of Gulf Aluminium Rolling Mill (GARMCO), the Bahrain-based international aluminum rolling mill and one of the largest downstream aluminum facilities in the Middle East, new Aluminium Recycling Plant continues to achieve significant milestones with erection of the building frame, installation of two 70mt melting furnaces and commencement for the installation of a 105mt twin chamber furnace. The air pollution control equipment is currently being installed and the pit is being prepared to accept all of the casting equipment which will be installed during March 2017. GARMCO chose world best equipment suppliers and designed the plant to meet stringent Bahraini safety and environmental regulations. The new plant will provide GARMCO with the capability to cast an additional 120,000tonnes of 10 tonnes of Aluminium slab products. Once the slabs are rolled, the finished products will exceed customer quality requirements whilst improving operational safety and reducing production costs. GARMCO would also like to congratulate Fives our turnkey construction contractor in achieving over 600,000 man hours without any lost time injuries. 2017 will be a challenging year for all personnel on this fast track project where construction piling commenced during March 2016, with commissioning of equipment to start in April and the plant to be fully operational by December 2017.
